Our prayer is that women would find The Haven, before the world finds them.
Our Vision
The Haven [formerly Voices] is currently in the beginning stages of establishing the first safe home for victims of human trafficking in Hernando County, FL. Our vision for Voices is to meet these girls right where they are in life & come alongside them. We want to give them hope and a future to celebrate and look forward to. We want to build a comforting home and create a presence where God’s presence dwells to bring restoration beyond what we can do. Our vision is to be able to bless these women and let them know they are not alone, through life skills classes, dance classes, an equestrian center, and holistic therapy. A main source of light in the community to build these girls up is what we are aspiring to be. We would love for you to come alongside us in our vision for Voices.
Why A Home?
We aim to reach girls who have aged out of the foster care system, women escaping domestic harm or domestic crisis, and young women who have chosen life amidst pregnancy conflicts. Why? Because:
Up to 600 girls a year in the state of Florida age out of the foster care system without any place to go (adoption)
Within 18 months of aging out, 20% of these young people will be homeless.
71% of these girls will be pregnant by the age of 21 without the support they need. (FosterVa.org)
Only 3-4% of those who age out go on to further their education and career development.
Since 2019, Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Kasey DeSantis have launched multiple resources, including The Faith & Community Initiative that allows organizations like The Haven to have access to the latest resources for young women in the state of Florida.
Building The Haven
Here are some of the goals in the building of our establishment for girls & women:
Open floor plan home with natural lighting, inviting spaces, scenic views, and secure parameters.
Multi-bedroom home (4-6 rooms) each designed to accommodate multiple women and girls, or individuals based on age, history, and restoration needs. Each bedroom will be thoughtfully designed, prayed over, and themed for specific needs.
Large family style kitchen that encourages community and involvement for temporary residents to grow and feel connected, not just like they are being served.
Limited media and digital spaces to promote healing and personal connection.
2 private counseling rooms that will be intentionally designed to open the door for life-giving conversations with verified Christian counselors.
Therapies at The Haven
Our vision is to offer multiple times of therapy to see girls and women find their identity, their life, and their purpose. Here are some of the therapies we aim to initially offer when The Haven home is built.
Our Fundraising Future
While The Haven already hosts multiple annual fundraising events, we have envisioned many more opportunities to partner with local organizations and make a big impact. Here are some of our fundraising goals that you will see released soon from The Haven.
